Tattoos: Art that lasts a Lifetime

Tattoos are in. Today you have a better chance to express your uniqueness without them. People may have lost faith in religion, but they find other ways to form groups, a new tribalism, where having a tattoo means you are part of the clan. As a photographer I've become fascinated by them and tried to find out why one would decide to go through all that pain. For one, it is the adrenaline rush; another wants to rebel. A tattoo can be the ultimate souvenir from a trip abroad to remember people you've met and places you've been. Women use tattoos to enhance their bodies. They feel stronger with their tattoos, as if the ink images can protect them against bad. Some people made their bodies into a work of art. Tattooing as a form of art, with skillfull and creative artists working on human canvas as modernday painters. A piece of art that will last a lifetime.
